Job Purpose
This role involves providing strategic legal guidance, managing legal risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The DGM - Legal will work closely with the General Manager (GM) - Legal and other senior executives to support business objectives while safeguarding the company’s legal interests.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Strategy & Advisory: Assist in developing and implementing the company’s legal strategy in alignment with business goals. Provide expert legal advice to senior management on various business matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, reviewing, and negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the company’s interests are protected. Ensure that all contracts comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Compliance & Regulatory Affairs: Ensure the company’s operations comply with applicable laws and regulations. Stay informed about changes in legal and regulatory requirements and implement necessary changes in company policies and procedures.
Litigation Management: Manage and oversee all litigation matters, including coordinating with external legal counsel, preparing legal documents, and representing the company in legal proceedings.
Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Conduct regular legal risk assessments and implement preventive measures to protect the company.
Corporate Governance: Support the GM - Legal in managing corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder communications, and corporate filings.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the legal team. Provide guidance and support to junior legal staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
External Liaison: Act as a key point of contact for external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners to support the company’s legal needs.
Policy Development: Assist in developing and maintaining company policies related to legal matters, including employee conduct, ethics, and data protection.
Due Diligence: Lead and manage legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic business initiatives.
Job Skills
Experience in a specific industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, technology) is highly desirable.
Familiarity with international law and cross-border legal issues.
Certification in compliance or corporate governance (e.g., CCEP, ICSA) is a plus.
Behavioral Attributes
Proven experience in corporate law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
Strong knowledge of industry-specific laws and regulations (e.g., banking, insurance, real estate, technology, etc.).
Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
